A tiny bronze version of Jeff Koons' world-famous Balloon Dog – in the original one of the most expensive artworks of our time – sits unobtrusively on the iron railing of the Danube promenade, shrunk to about the size of two palms. At the base of the tail it carries a cast-in bone shape, which from a distance perfects the illusion of dog mess, until a closer look reveals the shiny surface.

Koons’s shiny dog is a status symbol of the modern art market: inflated, flawless, worth millions. Kolodko’s version costs nothing and is accessible to any passer-by, bearing the title “Libido.” The location is no accident: Koons’s first wife, Budapest-born Ilona Staller, better known as Cicciolina, began her career right here on the Danube Corso. What Kolodko means by it, he doesn’t explain. The dog sits quietly on the railing. It says nothing. It doesn’t have to.
